Adobe’s Future: 64 bit Only

The news is slowly leaking out, but the rumors have finally been confirmed by Adobe and released in this white paper.

Future versions of Premiere and After Effects (CS5 and up) will be 64-bit only, requiring Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit, and Leopard /Snow Leopard for the Mac.

With a 64 bit version of Premiere and After Effects, your applications will no longer be handicapped, and will once again be able to take full advantage of your system’s capabilities.

Very exciting, as this is LONG overdue. We will of course continue to make sure our products are supported in all future versions of Adobe software.

Last Minute Tweaks

We’ve made a few changes to Retro Fusion before it’s upcoming release:

  1. The font of the subtitle has been changed to a slightly different (and better) one
  2. The text animator for the subtitle has been modified slightly
  3. The scene selection boxes now have little selection graphics next to each one, similar in style to the rounded item selection boxes next to all the menu buttons, for a much nicer way of highlighting each scene box

Instead of making a typical border or icon inside the scene selection box, we went outside the box… literally. It fits in much better with the rest of the button highlight theme and I think you will all like it very much.

We will see if we can get an updated full preview out soon. I thought about showing all of you a picture… but it just isn’t the same. The kit is complete, all we need to do is get the tutorials recorded and web content prepared and this menu is ready to go! Stay tuned!

Well, not exactly… While designing the submenus for our upcoming Pro Motion Menu Kit: 05 – The Final Cut, we came up with some exciting new graphics that we wanted to implement into the main menu as well, requiring quite a bit of redesign. This will unfortunately push back it’s release date, however Pro Motion Menu Kit: 06 – Retro Fusion is nearly completed and will likely be released first. Look for a full preview later this week!

Special Features Disc

This quick tip was sent in from Bryan at Guava Street Productions, Inc., a proud user of our Pro Motion Menu Kits:

They often need to create a 2-disc set with all the content they have for a wedding, such as the highlights, full ceremony, toasts, guest comments, photo montage, love story, etc.

On the first disc, they will render out all the menus and assemble the disc normally, fitting the main highlights and as many special features into the disc that space will allow. On the second disc, instead of rendering out all the menus, they will just render out a different Special Features menu, which becomes the main menu when you put in the disc. Less rendering time, and makes more sense.

Just thought I would pass this tip on to all of you using our Pro Motion Menu Kits.

If you have any tips that you guys would like to share with everyone, you can send me an email or post a comment right here in the blog.
